The Taxation That Our Founders Hated

Posted by NCF912Project

In light of all the distortions and half-truths that are constantly repeated, let’s be clear –what sparked the ire of our founders was not taxes; it was tyranny. Their theme was not simply Taxed Enough Already – it was Tyrannized Enough Already. Their tolerance for tyranny was taxed to the max – that’s the taxation the founders could no longer take.

The original tea party was not just about money and the driving force toward American independence was not simply taxation. At the crux of the matter were the PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNMENT that created the taxation – taxation WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. It was about government eliminating the common rights of the people. The motivation behind the tea party event was Great Britain’s attempt to remove the people’s right to electively engage in trade, by mandating purchases only from the government…

“Conservative Countdown to 2012″ a Success!

Posted by NCF912Project

We had a great turnout for our first “Conservative Countdown”! A big thanks to all who helped to make this event a great success. Speakers included U.S. Senate Candidates, Mike McCalister, Ron McNeil, Marielena Stuart, and George Lemieux, and U.S. Congressional candidates Ted Yoho and Jim Klauder. There were speakers from Americans for Prosperity, Fair Tax, and Government Gone Wild . KrisAnne Hall gave a great motivating speech to cap the event and then drew the winning raffle ticket for the 9mm Glock. Donna Lynch was the lucky winner of the gun; a big thanks to everyone who helped sell the tickets during the duration of our raffle. We sold 461 tickets and raised $4,610 for our group. This helped defray some of the costs associated with the Conservative Countdown and will help us continue to do the things necessary in the future.

We are going to try to post pictures from the event on our facebook page so check that out in a few days! www.facebook.com/#!/NorthCentralFloridaTeaParty.

Again, many thanks to all those who helped make this event the success it was; it takes a lot of “behind the scenes” work, as well as a lot of volunteers on the day of the event. We appreciate everyone who took their time to help out!

Understanding the Voting Dates in 2012

Posted by NCF912Project

Many have expressed their confusion about the straw poll vote, the Presidential Preference Primary Jan. 31, 2012, the Primary in August 2012 and the General Election in Nov. 2012.

It is important that voters understand the process so we can make a difference! First, the Democrat Party already has their candidate – Barack Obama. The Republican Party is in the process of electing the candidate that will run against Barack Obama. The first step in the process for Republicans was Presidency 5: This event took place in Orlando Sept. 22-24. All delegates were able to participate in the FL Republican Straw Poll Vote. Herman Cain won the Straw Poll Vote, with Rick Perry 2nd place and Mitt Romney 3rd place. The next step of the process is the Presidential Preference Primary, Jan. 31st 2012: This election was originally set for March 6, however, a small committee decided they wanted to move the Presidential Primary up so they could have more of an influence in determining the candidate who will be chosen to run against Barack Obama in Florida. Unfortunately, the other states that normally go before FL (Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina & Nevada) have or will probably move up their dates so Florida will still be the fifth state to vote for the Republican Presidential Candidate. Now there will be less time for Republicans to learn about the candidate they want to run against Barack Obama. The Presidential Preference Primary Jan. 31, 2012 is the only opportunity for Republicans to vote for their choice to run against President Obama. The deadline to register to vote for the Presidential Preference Primary is Jan. 2, 2012 at 5:00 pm.

The Presidential Preference Primary is the ONLY chance for Republicans to vote for their choice to run against Barack Obama. Most voters are not aware that the Primary in August 2012 will not include the office of President. In addition, many think the Presidential Preference Primary is only a straw poll vote. The Presidential Preference Primary is NOT a straw poll vote: it will determine who Florida Republicans want to run against the Democrat candidate Barack Obama. The voters who understand the process have controlled who goes on the ballot. We need to educate our family, friends and neighbors about the Presidential Preference Primary.

The third step in the process is the Regular Primary set for Aug. 14, 2012: All candidates and races for federal, state and local races from all political parties are included in this primary except the office of President (since this is done Jan. 31st.) The deadline to register for the Regular Primary Election is July 16, 2012. The last step in the process is the General Election Nov. 6, 2012. The deadline to register for the General Election is Oct. 8, 2012.

First Tea Party Caucus Conference Call a Success

Posted by NCF912Project

Tallahassee Florida, March 18, 2011 – Representative Mike Weinstein held true to his word that the Florida Legislature Tea Party Caucus would “not be a typical caucus…we want a lot of interaction.” That interaction began on Thursday evening, with the first Florida Tea Party Caucus conference call. Many Representatives and Senators were on hand for the call with several in the room together while others checked in between committee meetings. All wanted to talk to and hear from the many Tea Party members on the call. “What a refreshing experience to have such access to our lawmakers,” said Patricia Sullivan, Chair of The Tea Party Network, “a bi-partisan group of lawmakers have reached out to everyday citizens and given extraordinary access to government in Florida.”

According to Representative Larry Metz, “Representatives cannot do their job without having frequent, open and effective lines of communication with their bosses – the citizens they represent. Regular meetings and conference calls between the Florida Legislature’s Tea Party Caucus and The Tea Party Network will allow us to remain grounded in the concerns and issues of many of the citizens who sent us here.”

Many members of the FLAlliance and The Tea Party Network participated in the conference call and after hearing from the lawmakers, members had questions and the lawmakers were eager to talk with them. Members had targeted questions about specific bills, often stating the specific bill number they were discussing. Dave VonGunten of the North lake TEA Party and a member of The Tea Party Network said, “There is no feeling like the feeling that our representatives are listening to what we have to say.”

In an effort to have even more direct contact and interaction with members, the Florida Legislature Tea Party Caucus has established a Facebook page where Tea Party members from around the state can post questions and receive answers from lawmakers as well as follow movement of bills going through the committee and approval process. “The conference call and Facebook creation is a real step toward direct communication between the legislators and the local organizations,” said Representative Michael Weinstein, “We look forward to our next call.” Go to: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Florida-Legislature-Tea-Party-Caucus/182933985083846 if you are interested in seeing and posting on the facebook page.
