Dream Act (Amnesty Bill)
Posted by NCF912Project
The information below was received from the Baker County Tea Party regarding the “Dream Act” which may be voted on by the U.S. Senate on (9-21-10) Please read through it , do more research if necessary and then call your senators (and others) if you feel it is necessary.
Sen Harry Reid will be seeking a vote on the DREAM Act as early as tomorrow. He plans to attach this controversial immigration bill as a rider to a defense spending bill. This act would give citizenship to children of illegal aliens, up to 35 years old, if they get a high school diploma and either serve in the military or pursue a college education. They would then be allowed to jump in the front of the citizenship line and sponsor their immediate relatives for citizenship through current chain immigration laws.
Also, according to a fact sheet put out by NumbersUSA.com, the bill will:
- Retroactively repeal the federal ban on in-state tuition tuition for illegal aliens.
- Require Dept of Homeland Security to award amnesty to every illegal alien who claims to meet the criteria a) present in the country for the last five years, b) US high school diploma or GED, or admitted to institute of higher learning and c) of “good moral character” with no more than two misdemeanors. The bill does not require that alien applicants prove they meet this minimum criteria.
- Illegals can’t be removed from the United States for any reason if they have filed an amnesty application until the application has been fully processed and a final decision has been made.
- Amnesty applications go to the front of the line, bypassing millions of people around the world who have applied legally.
- To deny an application, the burden of proof is on the federal government.
- There are no numerical limits on the number of applicants awarded nor is there no end date to apply.
- Amnesty applicants are eligible for certain federal student loans and work-study programs.
The left has been mobilizing their folks to call key Senators. Our own Senator LeMieux of Florida is considering supporting this. He and Senator Nelson need to hear from us! If you’ve never called a Senate office, it isn’t hard. Just state your name to the staffer and quickly say you are calling to ask the Senator to OPPOSE the DREAM Act amnesty. Then give one reason for your opposition, say thank you and good-bye.
